8 September You can’t succeed unless you fix things now: Self-Development Lessons – Joshua 8:1
“8 Then the Lord said to Joshua, ‘Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Take the whole army with you, and go up and attack Ai. For I have delivered into your hands the king of Ai, his people, his city and his land.”– Joshua 8:1 NIV
Here’s a quick recap: In Joshua 7, the Israelites could not defeat Ai’s Army because of somebody’s wrongdoing in the Israelite.
They went through a whole episode of fixing and destroying the root of the problem, and now they’re finally here again.
Destroying Ai… Finally!
This time, God was on their side, and they defeated them.
Wait a minute, if God can do that for them…
He can do it for you too!
Here’s a quick life tip:
God will not let you prosper if you have unfinished business with Him.
Let me break it down a bit more.
Life may be starting to look bright now, but that doesn’t mean you can just forget about unfinished business without dealing with them.
You know what this is called? This is called God’s undeserved Grace.
Grace rescues us from places we can’t get out ourselves.
But just because it’s undeserved doesn’t mean you should be complacent.
There is a fine line between being confident in God and being cocky.
Being confident means you know God will bridge a gap between your shortcomings and success.
Being cocky means you don’t work hard for anything and expect God to toss success into your hands.
So be confident that God lets you have good days even with unfinished business. Wouldn’t the spring in your step be lighter if you settled you unfinished business once and for all?
Call your mom.
Call your old best friend.
Call your ex-boss.
Call your previous spouse.
Whatever it is, do it now!
Who knows? You might not get a second chance tomorrow.
When you’re done with your unfinished business, you’ll feel that your faith’s foundation is stronger!
And you know what they say about a firm foundation:
Building on a Solid Foundation
“ 24 ‘Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. 25 Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. 26 But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. 27 When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.’ “
God bless you and bury some hatchets!
