A Better You: Your Troubles Are Not for You – Joshua 3:7-8

Song: Tell Somebody by Unspoken

As the Word of God is a living text, people have different ways of interpreting these texts. So, feel free to share your thoughts and opinions down in the comments below! Remember to like and share on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter!

7 And the Lord said to Joshua, “Today I will begin to exalt you in the eyes of all Israel, so they may know that I am with you as I was with Moses. 8 Tell the priests who carry the ark of the covenant: ‘When you reach the edge of the Jordan’s waters, go and stand in the river.’”

– Joshua 3:7-8 NIV

In Joshua 3, God stopped the Jordan river from following to let the Israelites cross.

It reads: “The LORD said to Joshua, ‘This day I will begin to magnify and exalt you in the sight of all Israel, so that they may know that just as I was with Moses, I will [also] be with you.’”
Reading this on the surface, you’ll understand that God did this to assure Joshua that He will be with Joshua.

However, there is another layer in this sentence that people often miss the first time they read it.

God is the backbone of this operation.

God could have exalted anyone else other than Joshua to fulfill His purposes.

But, God created us with all our flaws so that, in due time, these flaws will be what he uses to achieve His purposes.

Moses was chosen by God because He stuttered. Moses, who was bad at public speaking, was ordained by God as the motivational speaker of Israel in those days. At the end of the journey, Moses was ironically the most renounced motivational speaker despite his weak command of speech.

So, when God parted the Jordan with Joshua, it was more than to put Joshua in a high place; it was to let everyone know He is still God.

Sometimes, God does miracles in your life to touch other people’s lives.

One of the fatal Christian mindsets many of us still subscribe to is that we are at the center of our walks with God, we are at the center of our miracles. We’re not. There are times where we are far from it.

A lot of times, God does miracles so that you will continue to be the salt and light to other people. God does miracles to tell people who don’t believe in the resurrecting power of Jesus that God is almighty.

Until you learn this truth, it will be difficult to move forward in your journey with God.

Prophetic Word

Some of you may have experienced many breakthroughs and miracles before. Yet, you have not told the world your miracles because you’re afraid you’ll jinx it and have it taken away.

It’s time to preach the word of God with your testimony.

Call to Action

Make it known to your friend group, your loved ones, and strangers, that God is an alive God. God is moving. God is able.

Post it on Instagram (and tag me @tobias.blackwell). Share it on FaceBook. Tell them over dinner. Make an art piece about it.

Whatever it is, what God has been doing in your life cannot die there. We were made to reach people to the ends of the earth. How will we make an impact if we keep our mouths shut?

If you are afraid, remember this:

11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”

– Isaiah 55:11 NIV

God bless you and start telling about God.
