Why Is Life so Hard?

If you’ve read the Bible long enough, you would learn to realize some of God’s characteristics. Aside from being an Omni-God, there are many accounts of God doing things not very popular with Man: God likes to do things the hard way.

If you’re like me, you’d choose to do things the easier way. That doesn’t mean to cut corners, it just means to choose the easier option.

As a programmer and a mathematician, I’m effective. I like to choose the quickest and most painless way to do things in the long run.

In other words, I’m lazy.

If you’re like me, you don’t like to waste time doing things the harder way when there’s an easier way to do things.

The Reason for Your Hardships

Biblically speaking, God chooses to do things the hard way a lot of times to build faith in His people.

When you go through something hard and do things your own way, you wouldn’t believe that God helped you through.

But in those times when you’re at an utter loss and there seems like there’s no way out, you start to pray and draw near to God.

(Draw near to God and He)

Then, when God comes to rescue you, you’re going to rejoice greatly and worship Him.

(Then you will know the Lord God is with you)

Of course, it sounds a lot nicer than it actually is. The middle of waiting for deliverance is an uncertain and anxious one. It’s often ridden with sleepless nights and ugly conversations, not something we’d want to put ourselves into.

To for a diamond, carbon has to withstand high pressure. Often, it is these high-pressure situations that engraves our deepest values.

We need the pressure to become someone valuable.

How Will This Help Me?

In times of an emotional crisis, you have to manage your sense of self-worth and faith.

When no one’s there to remind you that God is near, turn to the living word.

Bring yourself to a quiet place and be still.

It is in the midst of an uncomfortable situation where you will learn the true purpose of this God-given life.

Call to Action

Practice this mindfulness activity:

Tell yourself every morning, looking at something that you find beautiful (whether it is your children or the sky), “Psalms 23:6 – So why would I fear the future? For your goodness and love pursue me all the days of my life.' "

God bless you and remember to stay at home!
