The Best Self-Help Book in the World

There are a million and one self-help books out there that guarantee success.

10 Steps to Becoming a Millionaire
Habits That Rich People Have
Eternal Happiness Begins from Within
A Practical Guide to Finding ‘the One’

The list goes on and on (these are all fictional titles if you can tell).

But what is the common underlying assumption all these books make about you? It’s something so erroneous that it’s disgusting.

The assumption that success is defined as what other people say.

Why We Feel Never Happy

The world has fallen from where we once started as a species. Satisfaction and success wasn’t a concept tied to the earth, it was tied to Heaven. With the invention of money and conveniences, we were lead astray (not that there’s anything inherently wrong with any of these things).

I am guilty of wanting at least 2 of those things that those books promised. But none of these books have an everlasting solution.

Why?

Because nothing that comes from the world is ever constant, never-changing. Things change all the time. Things are changing right now as you speak. The world is a dynamic place as spoken into existence by God.

You have free will; He has free will; She has free will. As in any ecosystem, things are constantly moving.

So, when things change, the temporal definition of success and happiness the world ordained changes.

The Secret to Permanent Success

If you want to get ahead in your life, start by focusing on something other than what comes from the world.

People who are successful by God’s standards are firm. They’re firm because they stand on the solid rock:

24 “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. 25 Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock.

– Matthew 7:24-25 NLT

It’s the only way to get ahead in life. Literally.

4 The one thing I ask of the Lord—
the thing I seek most—
is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
delighting in the Lord’s perfections
and meditating in his Temple.
5 For he will conceal me there when troubles come;
he will hide me in his sanctuary.
He will place me out of reach on a high rock.
6 Then I will hold my head high
above my enemies who surround me.
At his sanctuary I will offer sacrifices with shouts of joy,
singing and praising the Lord with music.

– Psalm 27:4-6 NIV

In essence, it is to abide in God. Seek Him first place in everything you go through: In your sorrows, your joys, your trials, and your anger. Turn to the Lord in all that you do, then He will know the extent of your faith.

The extent of your faith will determine the extent of your blessings.
